Fontainebleau Las Vegas unveils retail district plans

(Las Vegas).- The Fontainebleau Las Vegas revealed Wednesday that the casino-resort will have a 90,000-square-foot luxury shopping district with 35 retail stores across two levels when it opens on the north Las Vegas Strip by the end of 2023.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas unveils retail district plans

The developer, Fontainebleau Development, said the district will be unlike traditional separate retail destinations in other resorts. It’s connected to and visible from the larger resort ecosystem, “as every space will be designed with accessibility top of mind.” It will all be neighboring, adjacent, or above Fontainebleau’s 173,000-square-foot casino, dining experiences, and other offerings, the company said.

“Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ unique vertical design gives us great creative flexibility when it comes to our retail space,” said Fontainebleau Development President Brett Mufson.

The Fontainebleau will create a seamless guest experience and generate “unprecedented exposure and foot traffic” to its retail partners. “All facets of the resort have been thoughtfully considered with chic, sophisticated, and elegant architectural design and elements that echo the DNA of our brand,” Mufson said. “By blending different programmatic elements throughout Fontainebleau Las Vegas, rather than keeping them separate, window shopping and billboarding take on a whole new meaning, as our retail partners will capture more business organically, while keeping guests connected to the overall experience.”

The Fontainebleau Las Vegas has a 67-story hotel with 3,700 rooms. Located across from the Las Vegas Convention Center, it will also have 550,000 square feet in convention space.

The company said its vision is to establish a new level of modern-day luxury for guests, continuing a tradition of collaboration with world-class designers that originated with Morris Lapidus at the Fontainebleau Miami property. Earlier this year, Cliff Atkinson, the former president and COO of Luxor Hotel & Casino, was appointed president of Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

In July, Dan Cherry, a former executive with Penn National Gaming, was named senior vice president of casino operations.
